Biography
Amelia (Amy) Michaels, from Sandusky County, grew up on a small family farm. She was a Home Educated graduate and a very active participant in the Sandusky County 4-H program for over 10 years. Amy began her journey with OSU Extension when she attended The Ohio State Agriculture Technical Institute in Wooster, Ohio, before transferring to Columbus,  where she majored in Community Leadership and Extension Education, with a minor in Psychology.

Amy’s previous eAmy and her beloved Sheltie, "Leo" at the Wood County Fair. xperience includes working as a student research assistant for the Kirwan Institute for Race and Ethnicity; the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center  (OARDC); she served as the Program Assistant for Dr. Julie Fox, with strategic Initiatives and Urban Engagement, the 4-H Program Assistant in Sandusky County, and most recently the  4-H Program Assistant in Ottawa County, where she reached over 1000 youth annually through non-traditional 4-H programming.

 

Amy currently serves as the 4-H Youth Development Educator in Wood County, where her primary roles include serving as the Camp Director for Wood County 4-H Camp, Volunteer  Training and Club Management, and Livestock Quality Assurance. 

In her free time, Amy enjoys participating in trivia with her family’s team, painting, boating, and spending time with her friends, family, and lovable Leo – her Shetland Sheepdog.
